Greetings from Denmark!
I’m Emma Kajuutti, 20 years old horticulture student. This is my last year at Jämsä and I decided that I want to do practical training abroad. So I left to Denmark and arrived last Sunday to Billunds airport. From there I took bus to Aarhus from where I had to continue to Beder by other bus. I am staying in Jordbrugets UddannelsesCenter at Beder. I got my own room from schools dormitory and there is shared kitchen/living room.
Work, work, work
I am doing my practical training in town named Odder. It is about 20 minutes bus ride away from Beder and it is easy to go since I got buscard. My work place is flower shop, Violen. It is big shop compared to places I have worked before, although shop isn’t only all about flowers, there is also all kinds of different liqueurs, sweets, coffee, tea and other delicacies.
This week I have been helping out everybody, planting, cleaning cutflowers, drilling holes to horns, watering plants and getting used to way how things work at shop. I got to do few bouquets on friday. On Thursday after work I went with owner and staff to a beer tasting. It was held at local asian restaurant so we also went to eat at the same time. I have never been at such an event but it was very nice and I got to taste danish beers and liked some of them very much. Also got good food so I was happy that they took me with them.
Weekend for relaxing?
I had thought that I’d take it easy on weekend and just go to couple of places, eat and sleep. Well that didn’t happen and on Saturday I explored Aarhus. I went to ARoS art museum, old town (den gamle by), tropical house, Dokk1 and Aarhus cathedral. I also walked many kilometers, just to see what it is like in Aarhus.
On Sunday I went to deer park, just south of Aarhus. There were so many deers that walked around people, begging for treats. After deer park I went to see movie, La la land. Liked it but somehow reminded me of this older movie, singing in the rain.
