On this page, you will find information on how to use the VR4VET environment with VR glasses or on your computer. You will need a Meta account and a VR headset or computer. There are three ways to use the environment:
- Using the VR4VET Environment with Meta Quest VR headset (recommended)
- VR4VET PC‑VR: Run VR4VET in any supported VR headset via PC
- VR4VET PC: Run VR4VET without a VR headset on a computer
1. Using the VR4VET Environment with Meta Quest VR Headset (recommended)
Follow these two steps on your computer to install and start the VR4VET application on your Meta Quest headset.
Step 1 – Log in to your Meta account
Open a web browser and sign in to the Meta account you want to use with VR4VET: https://auth.meta.com/
Step 2 – Join the VR4VET distribution channel
Visit: https://www.meta.com/s/5hk2rWK03
Click Join. After joining, the VR4VET application will automatically install on the VR headset linked to your Meta account. (You only need to join once.)
Continue on your VR headset
- Put on your Meta Quest headset
- Open the Applications menu
- The VR4VET application should appear shortly
- If not visible, search for it in the Store

2. VR4VET PC‑VR
With VR4VET PC‑VR you can use other VR headsets such as Pico, HTC Vive, and Valve Index. You will need a PC running the application and your VR headset connected to it.
Requirements
- VR‑ready Windows PC
- VR4VET PC‑VR application
- Steam + SteamVR
- VR headset software (depending on brand): Meta Quest Link, Pico Streaming Assistant, or SteamVR for Vive/Index
WIRED SETUP (USB cable) – Best for stable performance
1. Install
- Download VR4VET PC‑VR here: (VR4VET.zip, 0.17.2 / 3.2.2026)
- Extract VR4VET.zip
- Open the PC Build folder
- Start VR4VET.exe (If firewall warns you, choose Run/Install anyway)
- Install Steam + SteamVR (https://store.steampowered.com/)
- Install headset software (if needed)
2. Connect your headset via USB‑C 3.0
3. Put on the headset (Quest: Enable Link, Pico: Confirm in Streaming Assistant, Vive/Index: SteamVR opens → Enter VR)
4. Start VR4VET PC‑VR → SteamVR opens → Enter VR
WIRELESS SETUP (Wi‑Fi) – Best for freedom of movement
Requirements: Wi‑Fi 6 + PC connected via ethernet
1. Install VR4VET PC-VR + SteamVR (Check Wired setup instructions above)
2. Enable wireless mode (Quest Air Link, Pico Wireless mode)
3. Start VR4VET PC‑VR → Headset connects → SteamVR opens
Quick Fixes
- Lag: Use Wi‑Fi 6, move router closer, use ethernet
- USB not detected: Try another USB 3 port, use a high‑quality cable
- Black screen: Update GPU drivers, restart SteamVR
3. VR4VET PC (No VR Headset Required)
With this version, you only need a microphone, mouse, and keyboard. You can play this version without any VR headset.
1. Download the environment: VR4VET.zip (0.17.2 / 3.2.2026)
2. Extract VR4VET.zip, open PC Build folder
3. start VR4VET.exe (Run/Install anyway if firewall warns)
Keyboard controls
- W – Move forward
- S – Move backward
- A – Move left
- D – Move right
- Q – Turn / look left
- E – Turn / look right
Use your mouse to look around. Right click to show cursor / right click to hide cursor. With Mouse cursor you can make choices in the environment like selecting scenarios, click selectable options etc.
Note! If you join a multiplayer game with PC-version. It is possible that your character will not be visible to others.
